Thank
you for your interest in participating in the
Massachusetts Recreational Boater Survey 2010.
The
survey is now closed. Thank you to all who participated in this
valuable study.
Congratulations
to the
boater from Marion
who is the winner of the $1,000 grand prize.
Thousands
of recreational boaters are already helping to ensure that your
favorite routes and destinations receive appropriate attention
when management decisions are made about Massachusetts' ocean
waters.
All
information provided by boaters will be held in the strictest
confidence.
HOW
DO I PARTICIPATE?
1.
I RECEIVED A LETTER IN THE MAIL AND WOULD LIKE TO PARTICIPATE
In
May, a random sample of 10,000 boat owners was selected from
a combination of information contained in the Massachusetts
Boat Registration and the US Coast Guard Documented Vessel databases.
Boaters in the sample received a letter in the mail inviting
them to participate in the survey.
2. I DID NOT RECEIVE A LETTER IN THE MAIL, BUT I AM A RECREATIONAL
BOATER FROM MASSACHUSETTS
If
you did not receive a letter inviting you to participate,
but own a recreational boat and use it in Massachusetts' coastal
or ocean waters, we would welcome your input as a volunteer
participant. As a volunteer you will be able to report
on any or all of your boating trips during the 2010 boating
season.
Please
note that volunteer participants will NOT be eligible for
any prize drawings.
3. I AM NOT FROM MASSACHUSETTS, BUT I TAKE MY BOAT INTO MASSACHUSETTS
WATERS
We
are also undertaking a small pilot study to test a method
for gathering spatial and spending information from out-of-state
boaters who pass through Massachusetts waters.
Short
questionnaires are being distributed at a number of key marina
facilities who have kindly agreed to assist with this pilot
study:
